Integrating Loftware and Oracle for More Accurate and Efficient Fulfillment Process

The Challenge: Capitalize on the Power of the Oracle® E-Business Suite
Canon Business Solutions field service reps need ASAP access to parts in order to keep their customers up and running. The Canon warehouses were using a hand-picking and paper-based fulfillment process that was too inaccurate and inefficient to manage their large and unpredictable volume of components. Canon Business Solutions-Southeast adopted the Oracle E-Business Suite ERP software, but the company still needed a way to tie the enterprise application to the warehouse floor. Integration among Oracle, wireless hardware and Loftware™ labeling technology provide the key to the new solution.

Loftware's Solution: Provide RFID Labeling as a Basis for Tracking
Canon Business Solutions-Southeast engaged BearingPoint, a business consulting and systems integration leader, to assist with the Oracle implementation. Through BearingPoint, the company worked with Symbol® Technologies and Datavision, Inc., who supplied hardware for a real-time data collection system. Datavision customized the Oracle software to decode Canon Business Solutions' bar code symbologies, and the new Loftware system applies the tailored bar code symbology. The combined expertise of partnership of BearingPoint, Symbol Technologies, Datavision and Loftware created an Oracle-based RF solution that – per John Grabowski, IT Manager, Canon Business Solutions-Southeast – "will be able to fully leverage and extend the Oracle RF environment throughout our operations.”
