Version 7.1 - Release Notes Feb. 3, 2003

Feature Details  back to version info
USB Printing Loftware now supports USB Connections - Universal Serial Bus (USB) is a protocol used for connecting computer peripherals to a PC. USB provides an expandable, hot-pluggable Plug and Play serial interface that ensures a standard, low-cost connection for peripheral devices. Migration to USB is recommended for all printers that use legacy ports such as the PS/2, serial, and parallel ports. Up to 127 USB devices can be connected to one PC! A main feature of the USB standard is that it allows many computer peripherals (such as printers) to be easily swapped for another without having to turn off the computer. USB 1.1 currently supports a data transfer rate of 12 megabits per second. This high speed gives USB quite an edge over standard serial and parallel connections.
ActiveX Client Control The ActiveX Client Control now has the functionality to connect to the LPS through a socket connection, similar to our On-Demand Print Client and our Status Client. This allows you to get Job Status information, send files faster, and since the connection uses an IP address, you can even send files between different networks!
New Enhancements for International Languages Loftware has updated and made the Language Properties Wizard more robust with expanded International Language Support.
New Printer Drivers Loftware has added support for the Zebra XiIII Plus printers. The newly supported printers are the 90 XiIII Plus, the 96 XiIII Plus, the 140 XiIII Plus, the 170 XiIII Plus, and the 220
New Printer Models/Merge Eltron printers are now part of the Zebra lineup, and as such, the newly supported printer models are referred to as "Zebra / Eltron", and are the Zebra / Eltron 2746e, Zebra / Eltron R140 (RFID printer), and the Zebra / Eltron R402 (RFID printer) Printers.
